Lights, Camera, WIFFLE®

Erik Archer captures an Evan Reardon blast on video.

Exposure of our game is at an all time high.  The stage is set, for players to find themselves in the public eye.

Several opportunities for our sport to gain exposure  exist through new mediums, fueled by today's entertainment industry.

1.) Reality TV
2.) Online video streaming
3.) A large appetite for Sports and Contests.

                   Why not WIFFLE®BALL?
Who's the most likely candidate to land on TV?

Golden Stick sets the standard for talent & format.
Does Lou Levesque have the right ingredients for an entertaining TV show?

WIFFLE®BALL's a well known past time.  To see the game played at a high level is unique, and the individual personalities, and (team) characters can make for an entertaining plot.

HMP Films Present: Yard Work

The most thorough exposure this SPORT has received, is in Yard Work.
A landmark documentary that captured the sport as it hit an all time high.  This 1 hour clip, created by Brett Bevilaqua, often aired on NESN, particularly during Red Sox rain delays.

Yard Work was a rare find on TV, and the asking price was moderate if you wanted to purchase a copy, but luckily, patience has paid off, as this fine film is now offered for free! on YouTube.

                                              It deserves your immediate attention!

Sean 'wiffleboy' Steffy on Comedy Central's Tosh.0

This proves that WIFFLE ball can make for entertaining TV.  Kudos to Sean Steffy's online work which landed him on this show.  Wiffleboy isn't just talented on the field; he does tremendous work, promoting himself and the sport through online platforms.  Checkout his site and vids.  You won't be disappointed!  wiffleboy28.com

Sport Science episode 209:  Wicked WIFFLE

A frequently asked question:  Could a professional baseball batter hit a top WIFFLE ball pitcher?
On this show, they answer that riddle and go into some science of the ball.
Great production, and very interesting subject matter.

I would like to see more of this, but with the players in the spotlight, not the ball.
(James Loney is one big dude!  Too bad size won't help ya hit a WIFFLE ball )

Check out the above link.  It's an article posted on dead spin in 2006.  The notion of WIFFLE ball on TV has been debated over the past few years.  I agree that less thrilling "sports" have been aired, and if curling or chess can be considered a legitimate "sport" put on TV, then why not WIFFLE ball?

What's it going to take to make this happen?!?!  Reality stars?  Drama?  We can give you drama... as seen below in this GSWL NY video.

(Although we don't condone this behavior, and altercations rarely happen, the general viewing public eats it up.)

The perforated ball gets plenty on-air attention, and anyone can watch nasty pitchers on YouTube.  Therefore, I believe the players will ultimately get this sport on television as its own show.

Following individual stories and personalities will add the extra hook that keeps viewers glued to the screen.
